April Showers Bring...More Opportunities to Support Our Community!

As we continue on into 2024, we are still ramping up our resources to serve the increasing needs of families facing eviction for the first time. So far in April, we served 83 families!

As we've talked about, evictions doubled from 2022-23, and since then, the numbers have not let up. As we pivot our resources to serving families in in-person court, we are excited to see our case resolution rate continue to increase.

So far this year, we continue to receive about 100 applications each week from people who are being evicted. Nonetheless, we are resolving about a third of all cases at every stage - mostly thanks to support from people in the Treasure Valley.

Idaho Gives starts today. Donations go directly towards emergency rental assistance for families, allowing us to keep more people housed. Thanks to Corwin Ford, the first $10,000 in donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar.

Will you give today?

PS: The fact remains that in Idaho, it's fairly easy to evict someone who doesn't pay their rent. Compared to other states, in Idaho tenants can get a 3-day eviction notice and be summoned to court just 5-12 days after that. This quick turn-around makes catching up on rent difficult for the people we see, who often are just waiting for their next paycheck. These facts make it that much more impressive that we are able to resolve so many cases.
