There will be a day - perhaps in our lifetime - when we get to celebrate preventing homelessness for people er everyone.  We want to use your energy, time, and skills in our efforts to prevent homelessness. Join us below.

Intake Volunteer

Jesse Tree is seeking volunteer front desk workers who will serve as our front-line workers in making sure people who call in receive needed assistance to stay housed.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Be the first friendly, helpful face our clients see

  • Answer the phone for clients calling in, and greet clients who walk into our office

  • Assist clients with answering a series of screening questions, and help them gather required documentation for our program

  • Check our voice messages and return calls and emails

  • Refer clients to other needed community programs and resources – whatever it takes to keep them housed

  • Track client phone calls using our internal tracking system

  • Assist with general office duties, making copies, mailings for donations and events, and thank you letters

  • Maintain confidentiality of information

Expectations

 

  • Be a consistent presence in the office for a 3 hour time block, for either 1-2 days a week, or 1 day every other week (6-24 hours/month)

  • Be a friendly problem-solver

  • Remain committed to keeping our clients’ information confidential

  • You will be required to attend a Volunteer Orientation, and staff will provide you with the support you need throughout your time with us

  • 18 years and older

  • Dress code is business casual

Home Inspector Volunteer

Jesse Tree is seeking volunteers to conduct home inspections in Ada and Canyon Counties, to make sure our clients’ homes are safe and habitable. We are required to conduct home inspections due to funding requirements, and the inspections help ensure we are keeping our clients housed in a sustainable situation.

Responsibilities

 

  • Respond to our requests for housing inspections, call clients, and make appointments to visit their homes

  • Complete home inspections using the HUD form and determine if home passes the inspection

  • Make any recommendations for needed repairs, and complete follow up visit once repairs are complete

  • Call in the results of the home inspection to the Program Manager by the next business day after the inspection is completed

  • Complete paperwork and submit to the office

  • Maintain confidentiality of information

Expectations

 

  • Hours are flexible and can be completed from your home, at whatever time commitment you are willing to make. Each home inspection takes up to two hours.

  • Be a friendly problem-solver

  • Must have a current driver’s license and transportation

  • Remain committed to keeping our clients’ information confidential

  • You will be required to attend a Volunteer Orientation, shadow a current Home Inspector, and staff will provide you with the support you need throughout your time with us

  • 18 years and older

  • Dress code is business casual

Front Desk Volunteer

6 - 12 hours/month

We need volunteers to answer our phones and work with clients that walk into our office, and ask clients questions related to their need for assistance.

Home Inspector

5 - 10 hours/month

Conduct inspections for our clients, making sure their homes are safe and habitable.

Special Projects

5-10 hours/month

We are also looking for volunteers to assist with cleaning our office once/month, website design, and/or training curriculum development. If you have other ideas regarding how you might like to participate in our program, contact us.
