Falling for Jesse Tree

As the leaves change, our team has been reflecting on what we’ve been experiencing over the last few months.

Our staff retreat was a great time to remind ourselves of our values and leadership principles, as well as how our organization will succeed in our goal of preventing homelessness from happening to more people.

Our staff was reminded of our commitment to be reliable, compassionate, solutions-oriented, and balanced in the face of what are very serious, chaotic, and urgent situations.

Staying inspired has been challenging as we continue to see an increased need for resources via our Tenant Resource Center and in eviction court.

We currently have 200 Treasure Valley families on our list for emergency rental assistance. Each of those families has received a 3-day eviction notice from their landlords. This list continues to grow, even though we support around 100 families monthly. In addition, there have been close to 50 hearings in Ada County eviction court (just this week, there were 63!). We continue to show up each day to help 20-30% of those cases get dismissed.

Reflecting on our values in the face of challenging situations becomes increasingly important for us as we seek to serve as many people as our budget allows amidst increasing demand. We thank you for being with us on this path as things keep changing, and we will continue to keep you posted along the way!
