Client Story: Adam and Christina
Adam and Christina did everything right.
Adam worked full-time, doing all he could to take care of their four kids. Christina was a caring mother, despite also working to support their family. When Christina got pregnant again, the couple was going to do everything that it took to provide for their growing family. However, when Christina found out that her pregnancy was high-risk, she had to take time off of work for her health and the health of their baby.

Adam took on the role of being the sole provider for himself, Christina, and their kids. The family accessed services and support as needed, helping to get their kids in counseling as they continued to persevere through a difficult pregnancy and being cut down to just one income.
Adam’s company underwent a change in staff. This shift resulted in reduced hours for employees across the board. This left Adam trying to support himself, his wife, and their soon-to-be five children on a smaller income than ever before. The pair took all the right steps, from signing up for needed services to working as much as they could. However, between Christina’s health issues, and Adam’s reduction in hours, the couple simply could not keep up. This strenuous situation led to the couple falling behind on rent.
This is where Jesse Tree stepped in. After contacting our Tenant Resource Center, Adam and Christina were connected with a case manager in our Emergency Rental Assistance program. Jesse Tree provided $2,000 in financial support to keep this family housed. If Jesse Tree hadn’t been able to get involved, this would be a large family who would all be facing homelessness with a new baby. Christina and Adam worked with Jesse Tree and their landlord worked together to find a way to pay outstanding fees. Adam worked with his employer to find a solution to his scheduling, and Christina was able to restart work part-time to help stabilize their family. Adam and Christina persevered, facing unthinkable circumstances, and worked ceaselessly to take care of their kids. Their story speaks to the resilience and perseverance of many of the tenants Jesse Tree supports. Thanks to the hard work of Adam and Christian and their Case Manager here at Jesse Tree, the family remains stably housed today.
