Jesse Tree Announces Leadership Transition
Executive Director Ali Rabe to Step Down, Evan Stewart Named Interim Director
Boise, ID (8/1/25) – Jesse Tree, the Treasure Valley’s leading nonprofit preventing eviction and homelessness today announced a leadership transition. Executive Director Ali Rabe will step down in August after more than six years of service, taking on another housing-related role in the community. Rabe passes the torch to Interim Executive Director Evan Stewart.
Former NFL player and local realtor and accountant Richie Brockel serves as Jesse Tree’s Board President and applauded Rabe’s hard work to build a sustainable, impactful nonprofit that is well-regarded throughout the state.
“We are thankful for Ali’s smart, strategic leadership over the years, and for leaving the organization in such a healthy place in terms of finances, board and staff team,” Brockel said. “We wish her all the best in her new position, and are excited to find the right candidate to usher in the next chapter.”
Under Rabe’s leadership, Jesse Tree grew from a small community initiative into one of the most impactful housing nonprofits in Idaho. Under Rabe’s six-and-a-half-year tenure, Jesse Tree has grown from a budget of $250,000 a year to $3 million a year. Rabe’s fundraising leadership in partnership with the Board of Directors has helped Jesse Tree prevent eviction for 3,000 people each year in the Treasure Valley.
As a State Senator and in her new role, Rabe will continue to work on housing-related issues across the state.
“Leading Jesse Tree has been the greatest honor of my career,” said Rabe. “I am confident in our team and thrilled that Evan will help guide Jesse Tree into its next chapter.”
Evan Stewart, who has played an integral role on Jesse Tree’s leadership team and served as Acting Executive Director during Rabe’s recent maternity leave, will serve as Interim Executive Director beginning August 11. The organization will launch a national search for its next Executive Director, who is expected to be in place this fall.
Jesse Tree’s board and staff remain committed to ensuring a seamless transition for the organization’s clients, partners, and supporters. Rabe will be available to consult and train the new Executive Director as needed. The application will soon be posted on LinkedIn via Jesse Tree’s page.
