Client Story: Heather

Life as a single parent is uniquely challenging. Heather is a single mother to 2 small children while working full-time. Then, the unthinkable occurred; Heather lost her job when the business she was working for suddenly closed its doors.

As the only caregiver to two kids, ages 5 and 6, Heather had to act fast. She applied for all government programs she was eligible for to hopefully tide her family over for the month until she was able to find a new job. However, even with unemployment income, the dent made by her missed paycheck was too large to ignore. She fell behind on July’s rent, and as August approached, she feared she would fall behind on that as well.

Heather had some assistance from family with some of her smaller monthly expenses, with her support system helping to get her kids ready for the upcoming school year. However, once the late fees started to pile up from her missed rent payments, she contacted Jesse Tree for help. Heather’s case manager jumped into action, providing her with a household kit and other household necessities for her and her kids.

Thankfully, Heather was able to get a stable job with full-time hours while connected with her Jesse Tree case manager. Together, Heather and her case manager created a budget to plan for her long-term financial stability and help to keep her housing stable.

With her new job, Heather will be able to make ends meet and live a more comfortable life.
