Client Story: Mina and Andy

Although a pregnancy will have its ups and downs, many young parents look back on the birth of their first child as a  time of excitement as a family continues to grow. Mina and Andy were expecting their first child, and the pair did everything they could to be ready. Andy was working full time at a job with supportive benefits. On paper, they were far more prepared than most.

Mina’s health took a turn, one that couldn’t have been planned for. At seven months, Mina’s pregnancy was deemed extremely high risk. Mina’s workplace allowed her to take unpaid medical leave, but getting to appointments requires Andy’s support. This missed income from both parents caused the household to fall behind on rent.

A man and woman each hold their baby’s hand.

The couple reached out to Jesse Tree for emergency rental assistance. The couple was connected with their case manager, who jumped into action to keep the family housed. Jesse Tree was able to provide rental assistance and their Jesse Tree case manager worked with the couple to create a sustainable budget going forward. Mina and Andy received recent support through their church, including budgeting guidance, and diapers. The community rallied around the young couple to help provide baby items and gift exchanges for their growing family. A stable home isn’t just a place to live; it’s a chance for Andy and Mina to plan their lives and be the best parents they can be to their newborn babies.
